Role: Senior User Experience Designer & Team Lead

Timeline: Nov 2020 - Current
(started at Epic in 2017 on Inpatient and specialty applications, became a team lead in 2019)


Due to an NDA, I cannot post detailed descriptions of my work and am focusing more on my role & responsibilities on MyChart.

💡A designer of thoughtful solutions to complex problems

  • Design through the entire product lifecycle to create accessible, patient-centered experiences on MyChart, Epic’s patient portal

  • Maintain, evolve, and expand MyChart’s design system

  • Manage updates to MyChart’s UX Guide, which provides design system documentation for designers, developers, and quality assurance

  • Iterate based on feedback from user research, stakeholder feedback, technical considerations, and quality assurance

🙋🏻‍♀️ A manager of people and processes

  • Manage a team of user experience designers on the Patient Experience division, by coaching, providing feedback, facilitating growth, and guiding project prioritization for team members

  • Develop and improve company-wide UX processes, which empower developers and designers to work together and democratize design tools

  • Manage, document, and improve internal & external UX designer intern program, which grows up-and-coming design talent at Epic

  • Conduct interviews and provide feedback for hiring for the user experience designer role, which shapes the DNA of our growing design team

  • Coordinated Epic’s World Usability Day (twice!), a half-day series of talks with an audience of 3500+ employees, which educated & inspired developers, quality assurance, and writers to incorporate UX in their work

🖼 A storyteller & communication designer

  • Synthesize content, refine messages, and craft executive-level multimedia presentations for audiences of tens of thousands

  • Create graphics and motion design to communicate complex ideas in a visually appealing and joyful way
